Key responsibilities
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, managing a
fleet of 44 trucks. This role involves coordinating maintenance and repairs, ensuring the efficient
utilization of resources, and maintaining a high standard of quality and safety. The Workshop Manager
plays a pivotal role in leading and supervising a team of mechanics, electricians, and administrative staff.
Responsibilities:
1.0.Operational Leadership:
‐ Lead and manage the workshop team to ensure the timely and efficient maintenance and repair
of a fleet of 40 trucks.
‐ Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize workshop productivity.
2.0.Team Management:
‐ Supervise and mentor mechanics, electricians, and administrative staff.
‐ Conduct regular team meetings, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
3.0.Resource Management:
‐ Coordinate with the Inventory & Parts Manager to ensure the availability of necessary parts and
manage inventory efficiently.
‐ Allocate resources effectively to meet workshop demands.
4.0.Quality Control:
‐ Implement and maintain quality control standards for repairs and maintenance tasks.
‐ Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
5.0. Scheduling and Coordination:
‐ Work closely with the Workshop Coordinator to schedule maintenance and repairs in alignment
with operational needs.
‐ Coordinate with drivers and other departments to minimize downtime.
6.0.Communication:
‐ Act as a liaison between workshop staff, other departments, and upper management.
‐ Address and resolve issues raised by workshop staff or drivers in a timely and effective manner.
7.0.Documentation:
‐ Oversee the accurate documentation of maintenance and repair activities.
‐ Collaborate with the Record Keeper to maintain comprehensive records.
8.0.Strategic Planning:
‐ Collaborate with the Operations Director to contribute to the development and execution of
strategic plans for workshop operations.
Desired candidate profile
0.Requirements:
‐ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field (or
equivalent work experience).
‐ Proven experience in workshop management, preferably in a fleet management setting.
‐ Strong leadership and team management skills.
‐ Excellent organizational and problem‐solving abilities.
‐ In‐depth knowledge of truck maintenance and repair procedures.
‐ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
‐ Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards.
‐ Proficient in using workshop management software and tools
