Key responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Equipment Repair and Maintenance:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in farming equipment.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, filter changes, and belt replacements.
Inspect and test equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns.
Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and equipment service history.
Order and replace faulty parts and components as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized workshop area and ensure proper storage of tools and equipment.
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for farming equipment.
Create maintenance schedules and perform regular inspections to identify potential issues.
Perform maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating equipment components.
Conduct thorough equipment checks before and after planting and harvesting seasons.
Operator Duties:
Double up as an operator during planting and harvesting seasons.
Operate farming equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow planting and harvesting plans and adjust equipment settings as required.
Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to optimize operations.
Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Identify and report potential safety hazards and suggest corrective actions.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in farm equipment maintenance and operation.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Specialist Farm Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of repairing and maintaining various farming equipment, including tractors, planters, harrows, combine harvesters, mixers, and fertilizer spreaders.
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and scheduling.
Experience in ordering and replacing parts, as well as managing inventory.
Good understanding of safety regulations and practices in equipment operation and maintenance.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments during varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
