Key responsibilities
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to inspect, test, and evaluate vessels and tanks used in the
refinery industry to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety
requirements. The Vessel Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and
functionality of vessels and tanks within the refinery.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of vessels and tanks to verify their compliance with
specifications, codes, and standards.
- Perform visual inspections, measurements, and tests on vessel components to identify
defects, deviations, or non-conformities.
- Utilize a variety of inspection tools and equipment such as ultrasonic thickness gauges,
magnetic particle testing equipment, and visual inspection devices to conduct accurate
assessments.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand vessel
requirements and design parameters.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to address any
identified issues or non-compliance concerns.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, observations, and
recommendations for corrective actions.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to quality control procedures and guidelines during the
fabrication and installation processes of vessels and tanks.
- Provide guidance and support to fabrication teams in implementing quality improvement
initiatives.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to vessel
inspection techniques and methodologies.
- Participate in continuous training and professional development activities to enhance
knowledge and skills.
Desired candidate profile
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 15 years post-
graduate experience.
- Additional relevant technical certifications (API, in vessel inspection and welding inspection
are a plus.
- Proven experience working as a Vessel Inspector or similar role in the refinery or
petrochemical industry.
- Solid understanding of vessel design, fabrication processes, and inspection techniques.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
related to vessels and tanks.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., ASME,
API, ANSI).
- Familiarity with inspection tools and equipment used in vessel inspection, such as ultrasonic
thickness gauges, magnetic particle testing equipment, and visual inspection devices.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-conformities accurately.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear
inspection reports. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina to perform inspections in various environments, including climbing,
crawling, and lifting heavy objects if required
