Job Title: Sales Manager
Location: Senegal Department: Sales / Commercial
Introduction:-
To lead and grow the edible oil sales business for the company in Africa — increasing market share, driving revenue, building strong customer and distributor relationships, ensuring product availability and brand visibility, and achieving sales targets while maintaining profitability and quality standards.
Job Descriptions:
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop and implement sales strategies in line with company business plan. • Set annual, quarterly, and monthly sales targets for volume, revenue, and profitability. • Identify and prioritize growth markets within Africa. • Monitor industry trends, competitor actions, pricing, demand, supply chain issues.
Market Development & Business Growth
- Expand distribution network (wholesalers, retailers, distributors, supermarkets, informal markets as relevant). • Identify new business opportunities, product lines, or channels (e.g. food service, institutions). • Negotiate contracts with key customers. • Lead new product launches or variations (e.g. refined oils, specialty oils) into target markets.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with existing customers and partners. • Conduct regular market visits, distributor visits to get feedback; resolve issues (quality, delivery, pricing). • Work with marketing / brand teams to ensure product positioning, promotion, visibility. • Ensure customer satisfaction and after-sales support.
Team & Distribution Channel Management
- Manage and lead a sales team (field sales, key account managers, distributors). • Provide coaching, training, KPIs, performance evaluation. • Manage distributor relationships; define terms, monitor performance. • Ensure salesforce coverage and route-to-market optimization.
Operational & Performance Management
- Forecast sales, manage inventory and product supply/delivery planning. • Monitor and report on sales performance vs targets; take corrective actions when needed. • Manage budgets for sales / promotions / trade marketing. • Coordinate with logistics, production, quality assurance to ensure quality, timely supply. • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, food safety, labeling, import/export (if applicable).
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare regular reports (monthly, quarterly) for senior management: sales pipeline, performance, forecasts, risks. • Use market intelligence to inform pricing, promotions, competitive strategy. • Monitor margins, costs, discounts, and negotiate terms.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Agriculture/Food Science, or related field. MBA or postgraduate qualification is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 5–8 years (or more depending on seniority) in sales roles in the edible oil/vegetable oil/fats & oils industry, or closely related FMCG / food processing business in Africa. • Experience working with distributors, retailers, wholesalers. • Experience in launching or managing edible oil products, understanding refining, packaging, quality standards. • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of edible oil industry: sourcing, refining, different oil grades, quality controls, supply chain constraints. • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal skills. • Good analytical skills, able to use sales data, market data to make decisions. • Strong leadership, team-building, and people management skills. • Ability and willingness to travel frequently within assigned region. • Fluent in relevant local languages (depending on region) and English or French as per company operations. • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with CRM / sales tracking tools.

- High level of integrity, customer focus, adaptability to varied market conditions. • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities. • Understanding of import/export regulations, food safety / regulatory environment in the markets of operation.
