Key responsibilities
Job Description: The Safe Cities Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing advanced safety and security solutions for urban environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in integrating surveillance systems, IoT devices, and communications infrastructure to enhance city safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy integrated city surveillance systems, including CCTV networks and advanced video analytics tools.
- Manage and implement Access Control Systems (ACS) and related public safety technologies.
- Develop IoT-based smart city solutions, such as traffic monitoring, public space management, and emergency response systems.
- Collaborate with city officials, IT teams, public safety organizations, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize the performance of safety and security systems.
- Ensure cybersecurity and data integrity across all safe city technologies and platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, project plans, and operational procedures.
Desired candidate profile
Required Skills and Expertise:
- Proven experience with CCTV systems, network design, and video analytics (Avigilon, AXIS,Bosch)
- Proficiency in IoT technologies and integrating smart sensors into urban infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of RF communication, wireless networks, and LAN/WAN architecture.
- Familiarity with data integration platforms and real-time data processing.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for secure urban systems.
- Experience in using software tools for video surveillance management (Milestone, Genetec).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for addressing complex urban safety challenges.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-7 years of relevant experience in urban safety technology, network engineering, or IoT solutions.
- Certifications such as CSPM, CCNA, or cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CEH) are preferred but not mandatory.
