Key responsibilities
Summary:
As a Retina Surgeon, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with retinal disorders and diseases. You will perform surgical procedures to repair retinal detachments, treat macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other conditions affecting the retina. Additionally, you will work closely with other medical professionals to provide comprehensive eye care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose retinal disorders and diseases through comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic tests.
Develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition, which may include surgery, laser therapy, or medication.
Perform surgical procedures to repair retinal detachments, vitrectomies, and other complex retinal surgeries.
Monitor patients' progress post-surgery and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as optometrists, ophthalmologists, and medical retina specialists, to provide coordinated care.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in retinal surgery techniques, technologies, and treatments.
Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and post-operative care requirements.
Participate in research projects or clinical trials related to retinal diseases and treatments.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
Qualifications:
Desired candidate profile
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
Completion of residency training in ophthalmology.
Fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery.
Board certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Valid medical license to practice as an ophthalmologist.
Strong surgical skills and experience in performing retinal surgeries.
Excellent diagnostic abilities and clinical judgment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to empathize with patients.
Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
