The Production Manager ensures that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently. Responsibilities of the job include planning and organizing production schedules, estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers. He monitors production of billets, ensure accurate amount is produced at the right quality and cost and provides administrative support to production staff with impute of the Assistant Production Manager and also take on ad-hoc function(s) clearly agreed, with the GM Production.

 Thorough knowledge of steel melting/steel making through induction furnace, AOD/LRF and CCM route conforming to ISO standards and grades.
 Well conversant with international quality standards, grades and specifications and common procedure for steel industry
 Should have worked in the capacity of Production head for 4-5 years in an integrated steel industry
 Man-material management, inventory control, assessment and planning of spares and consumables for plant operations
 Should have knowledge of project execution / plant commissioning
 Liaison with procurement, logistics and suppliers for follow up of raw materials and consumables
 Excellent communication skills, Generation of MIS, consumption and production reports as required by the Management
 Optimization of melting practices
 Should be conversant with maintenance practices followed in steel industry and guide maintenance team on ground
 Planning and organising production schedules.
 Manages the efforts of manufacturing workers on the production floor.
 Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production operations.
 Manage human and material resources to meet production targets.
 Checks manufacturing equipment and control points to ensure efficient workflow are maintained.
 Determining quality control standards
 Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
 Overseeing the production processes
 Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
 Liaising with buyers, marketing and sales staff to meet demand on production.
 Estimate costs and prepare budgets
 Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement
 Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
 Monitor production to resolve issues
 Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel (quality inspectors, workers etc.)
 Determine amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.)
 Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
 Ensure output meets quality standards
 Enforce health and safety precautions
 Additional duties as directed by the GM Production and/or GMD.
