ob Summary:
The pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of prescription medications and providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This role requires a valid drug license to practice pharmacy within the jurisdiction.
Responsibilities:
Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently according to legal and ethical guidelines.
Review prescription orders for accuracy, completeness, and potential interactions with other medications.
Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosage instructions, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication records.
Monitor medication therapy outcomes and intervene as needed to resolve any issues or concerns.
Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards of practice.
Participate in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives and medication safety programs.
Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, healthcare professionals, and patients.
Stay updated on new drugs, treatment guidelines, and developments in pharmacy practice.
Desired candidate profile
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
Valid pharmacist license or registration in the jurisdiction of practice.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, and pharmacotherapy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical pharmacy practice.
Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or clinical setting.
Certification in areas such as immunization, medication therapy management, or diabetes management.
Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and electronic health records.
Knowledge of medication compounding and sterile product preparation.
