Key responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Organic Fertilizer Plant Operator to join our team. The incumbent will be responsible for operating and managing our organic fertilizer production plant, which converts chicken manure into organic fertilizer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of composting processes, including windrow management, turning sequences, composting management, and post-composting activities such as sieving, grinding, bagging, and sealing. The Organic Fertilizer Plant Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality organic fertilizer.
Responsibilities:
- Organic Fertilizer Production:
- Operate and manage the organic fertilizer production plant, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
- Receive incoming chicken manure and properly place it into windrows for composting.
- Implement turning sequences and manage composting processes to ensure proper decomposition and maturation.
- Monitor and control temperature, moisture levels, and other factors to optimize composting efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues or challenges during the composting process.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure proper aeration, moisture control, and nutrient balance in the compost piles.
- Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality organic fertilizer.
- Post-Composting Activities:
- Oversee the sieving, grinding, bagging, and sealing processes once composting is completed.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of equipment used in post-composting activities.
- Monitor the quality of the organic fertilizer and make adjustments as needed to meet product specifications.
- Collaborate with the packaging and labeling team to ensure accurate packaging and labeling of the organic fertilizer.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, quality control measures, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with logistics and distribution teams for efficient storage and transportation of the organic fertilizer.
- Health and Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, safe handling of materials, and proper waste management.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
- Implement and promote safe work practices among team members.
Desired candidate profile
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Organic Fertilizer Plant Operator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of composting processes, including windrow management, turning sequences, and composting management.
- Familiarity with post-composting activities such as sieving, grinding, bagging, and sealing.
- Experience in operating and maintaining equipment used in organic fertilizer production.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to organic fertilizer production.
- Ability to troubleshoot and address issues that may arise during the composting process.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to ensure efficient production and timely completion of tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality organic fertilizer.
- Physical stamina to handle manual labor and work in outdoor environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Basic record-keeping and computer skills.

- Quantity of Organic Fertilizer Produced: Measure the volume or weight of organic fertilizer produced within a specified timeframe.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of organic fertilizer produced, ensuring it meets product specifications and standards.
- Production Efficiency: Evaluate the efficiency of composting processes, turning sequences, and post-composting activities to optimize production time and resources.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and track safety incidents or near misses.
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor the condition of equipment used in organic fertilizer production and ensure timely maintenance or repairs.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of organic fertilizer inventory levels and coordinate with logistics and distribution teams for timely storage and transportation.
- Waste Management:
Implement proper waste management practices, minimizing waste generation and ensuring appropriate disposal.
- Team Collaboration: Assess the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and communicate any issues or improvements in the production process.
