Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Librarian with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong library science skills and a deep understanding of educational principles to support our patrons' learning and research needs. This role involves managing library resources, providing educational support, and developing programs that enhance the learning experience for our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Management:
Oversee the organization, cataloging, and maintenance of library collections.
Assist patrons in locating resources and using library facilities effectively.
Implement and manage library software and technology systems.
Educational Support:
Design and deliver educational programs and workshops tailored to various age groups and educational levels.
Collaborate with teachers and educators to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
Provide one-on-one or group instruction on information literacy and research skills.
Customer Service:
Offer excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, providing recommendations, and resolving issues.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with library users and community stakeholders.
Collection Development:
Assess and select materials for acquisition, ensuring the collection meets the needs of the library’s diverse users.
Conduct regular evaluations of library resources and make recommendations for improvements.
Community Engagement:
Plan and execute community outreach programs to promote library services and events.
Foster partnerships with local schools, organizations, and other community entities.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or equivalent qualification.
Professional experience in a library setting preferred.
Strong understanding of educational theories and practices.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in library management systems and technology.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with instructional design and curriculum development.
Familiarity with current trends and best practices in library services and education.
Knowledge of multiple languages or experience with diverse populations is a plus.
