Key responsibilities
Main responsibilities
Adhere to the school vision, implement the school motto and embody the
school values.
Play a major role under the overall direction of the Executive Head in
implementing the Secondary school improvement plan by following school
policies ;
Lead and manage staff and resources to that end and monitoring progress
towards their achievement;
Lead on teaching and learning, and raising academic standards;
Be responsible for timetabling and cover for Secondary staff;
Participate in recruitment of staff;
Be responsible for line management of the Deputy Head of Secondary, the
Leaders of Learning and the Year Leaders
Contribute to:
-the implementation of the school'
s curriculum
-school policies on curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, recording and
reporting;
-the promotion among students of standards of conduct/discipline and proper
regard for authority and the encouragement of good behaviour;
Lead on arrangements for the professional development and appraisal of the
performance of Secondary staff;
Be responsible for fostering positive relationships across the school
community;
Liaise with and assist the Board of Governors as required in the exercising of
its functions including attending meetings and producing reports when
required;
Help in maintaining and developing effective communications and links with
parents and provide positive responses to concerns and problems regarding
their children
'
s education and wellbeing;
Participate in teaching responsibilities.

Essential qualifications
Teaching qualification
MA in Education or NPQH
Skills and Experience
Have experience of the UK curriculum
Understand the requirements of working in an independent school
Understand the requirements of working in an international school
Be committed to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school
Personal qualities
Be committed to the vision and values of ISS and independent education and
play a full part in the life of the school
Understand and espouse child protection practice and be committed to
safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Understand the particular needs and concerns of this age group, their parents
and those who teach at this level
Promote fairness and equality of opportunity amongst the children and believe
passionately that all children should be valued equally
Be a good listener with children and adults, open and approachable
Be flexible whilst adhering steadfastly to important principles
Possess determination, enthusiasm and stamina
Present high standards of appearance at all times in keeping with the
profession
Be positive and motivated
Work under the leadership of the Executive Head and the Board of Governors
