Key Responsibilities:
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Lead the central laboratory department in alignment with the mission and strategic priorities of the
organization.
- Oversee the development and implementation of departmental goals, budgets, and key performance
indicators (KPIs).
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and the adoption of new diagnostic technologies and
automation.
Laboratory Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including staffing, equipment, workflow, and supplies.
- Ensure efficient coordination across sub-sections (e.g., hematology, biochemistry, microbiology).
- Oversee inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships for lab reagents, instruments, and consumables.
Quality and Compliance
- Maintain compliance with national and international standards (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP, CLIA).
- Lead quality assurance and control programs, including proficiency testing and internal audits.
- Develop and monitor SOPs, safety protocols, and biohazard regulations.
- Support evidence-based decision-making by providing expert interpretation of complex test results.
Workforce Management
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of laboratory technologists, supervisors, and support staff.
- Plan recruitment, training, professional development, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Technology and Innovation
- Evaluate and implement advanced diagnostic platforms and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Lead digital transformation initiatives, including automation, connectivity, and data analytics.
- Promote the integration of central lab functions with point-of-care testing and satellite labs.

- MD, PhD, or equivalent in Clinical Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, or related discipline.
- Board certification or eligibility in Clinical Pathology or Laboratory Medicine.
- At least 8–10 years of experience in clinical laboratory operations, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven knowledge of core lab disciplines, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
- Experience with lab automation, LIMS, and diagnostic technology platforms.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with clinical and administrative stakeholders.
- Experience in budget management, cost control, and service development.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation processes and external quality assessment programs.
