Key responsibilities
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Nurse to lead our Emergency Department nursing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency nursing, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced and high-acuity environment. As the Head Nurse of the Emergency Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care, coordinating the nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with established protocols and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Provide effective leadership to the nursing team within the Emergency Department.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
Emergency Patient Care:
Demonstrate proficiency in assessing, planning, and implementing care for critically ill and injured patients.
Ensure timely and accurate interventions in emergency situations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with physicians, paramedics, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Training and Education:
Develop and implement ongoing training programs for nursing staff, focusing on emergency care protocols and best practices.
Keep the team updated on the latest developments in emergency medicine.
Resource Management:
Manage resources efficiently, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
Monitor and control the budget for the Emergency Department.
Quality Improvement:
Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes.
Analyze data and implement changes to improve departmental performance.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for the department.
Conduct and participate in drills and exercises to ensure the readiness of the emergency team.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and departmental policies.
Implement and monitor policies and procedures related to emergency care.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications:
Current nursing license in [State]
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) highly desirable
Minimum 10 years of experience in emergency nursing, with 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of emergency care protocols
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
