THE ROLE
Reporting to the Harvesting Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for the efficiency
and productivity of the company’s harvesting sites, including the effective supervision of
manpower and the optimal use of equipment used to log, harvest and transport resources to
the production centre.
The manager will have excellent communications skills and be familiar liaising with Forestry
Authorities and Resource Department officials while keeping senior management across all
aspects of Harvesting Department performance.
TASKS

• Coordinate and manage daily activities within all operational sites of the Harvesting

department

• Work with multiple site crews to ensure the efficient production of 11,000m3 of log per

month (approx. 130,000m3 annually)

• Effectively manage the use of Log Fisher equipment, Skidders, Dozers and other

operational equipment used in the process of harvesting and delivering log.

• Monitor the daily performance of harvesting, measure against expectations/budgets.
• Provide proactive summaries of performance trends and current issues relevant to

harvesting productivity.

• Offer solutions for improved performance whenever possible.
• Provide open and effective communication with officials from Forestry and Resource

Departments together with senior management and peers.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

• Minimum five years’ senior experience in operational requirements of log harvesting
• Experience with Log Fishers, Skidders and other equipment used in log harvesting
• Strong supervisory skills
• The ability to train and mentor staff
• Experience working in and developing a team-based culture
• Computer literacy
• Strong work ethic and a hands-on approach
