Key responsibilities
Job Summary
The High Voltage GIS Senior Supervisor is responsible for the advanced installation,
testing, and maintenance of complex high voltage gas insulated switchgear systems. As
a subject matter expert, the supervisor provides technical guidance and mentorship to
the team, ensures compliance with safety protocols, and contributes to the continuous
improvement of GIS system performance.
## Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform advanced installation, commissioning, and maintenance procedures for high
voltage GIS equipment
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of GIS systems to
identify and resolve complex issues
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize the reliability
and lifespan of GIS equipment
- Train and mentor junior GIS technicians in the proper operation and maintenance of
equipment
- Collaborate with the Engineer to optimize project planning, resource allocation, and
task scheduling
- Maintain detailed records of equipment performance and maintenance activities
- Analyze system data and provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or
process improvements
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in GIS technology and industry best
practices
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company
policies
- Assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive safety programs
Desired candidate profile
## Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent, with a technical degree or trade certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a GIS Supervisor or in a related high voltage
electrical role
- In-depth knowledge of high voltage GIS equipment, including installation, testing, and
maintenance procedures
- Proficient in the use of specialized tools, test equipment, and software for GIS system
diagnostics and analysis
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex
issues
- Strong technical writing and communication skills to document work performed and
collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Experienced in providing training and mentorship to technicians
- Certified in High Voltage GIS Maintenance, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety,
and other relevant industry certifications
- Willingness to work overtime and on-call as needed to address urgent system issues
## Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- This position requires working in both office and field environments, including high
voltage substations
- Frequent travel to project sites and GIS installations may be required
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
