Main responsibilities:
MANAGEMENT:
 Overall management of the departmental functions including:
o Supervising or directing the work of other geneticists, biologists, technicians or
biometricians working on genetics research projects
o Ensure deadlines, targets and customer expectations are being met. Evaluate and
establish high-quality data on time.
o Develop DNA department, including responsibility for recruitment of new
employees, setting objectives, evaluating performance and expectations, coaching
and mentoring, working jointly with employees ensuring that adequate training is
provided.
o Develop and maintain a positive work environment for employees, ensure
continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency.

 Collaborate with the top management to develop strategic plans in order to prepare the
department for continued growth. Provide recommendations for capital expenditures
required within the department and feedback during budgeting process.
TECHNICAL:
 Conduct lab research and experiments, extract DNA or performing diagnostic tests,
interpreting, reviewing or approving genetic lab results. Create and complete lab reports with
appropriate conclusions.
 Assess feasibility, design and validate (biblio search, protocol, primers, …) new service as per
strategic plans.
 Assess, implement and execute new protocols, processes and procedures that will streamline
and increase the throughput of samples, share, profile and profitability.
QUALITY:
 Ensure methods in use meet current and proposed regulatory guidelines.
 Ensure analytical instruments are in an optimized and calibrated condition.
 Follow, maintain and implement quality systems in place (ISO 17025 & ISO 15189) in
collaboration with quality department.
 Ensure that employees are following the procedures and work to reduce non-conformances.
 All other responsibilities as assigned.

 Demonstrated success in the role of Manager.

 Eight to ten years of experience in production environment, of which five (5) years are at a
managerial level
 Up-to-date and strong knowledge in sequencing and other molecular biology technics.
 Up-to-date knowledge of laboratory practices, techniques, processes and automation.
 Computer literate
 Use good judgment in the resolution of employee relations issues.
 Good team building, training, coaching and mentoring skills.
 Ability to quickly adapt to changing environment and corporate needs to meet changing
priorities.
 Accurately follows procedures, company policies and guidelines.
