Key responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of plant operations, ensuring efficient production processes and

achievement of output targets.

  • Adapt operations to meet specific challenges related to the African market & overseas,

such as supply chain, labor, and infrastructure constraints.

  • Continuously monitor and improve production efficiency while maintaining a strong

focus on environmental sustainability.

  1. Strategic Planning & Budgeting:
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, goals, and budgets that align with the

business objectives and are tailored to the African & Overseas market.

  • Work closely with regional leadership to ensure alignment with broader corporate

strategy, while accounting for the nuances of operating in African & overseas markets.

  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Enforce strict adherence to international quality standards while considering local

regulatory requirements and consumer preferences across African & overseas
countries.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety certifications and other relevant standards specific

to the African region.

  1. Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a diverse workforce, cultivating a culture of inclusivity and high

performance.

  • Manage a team of department heads and plant staff, ensuring efficient talent

management, training, and workforce development in line with local labor conditions
and skills availability.

  • Foster a cooperative environment that takes into account local cultural differences and

business practices.

  1. Supply Chain & Inventory Management:
  • Oversee procurement and supply chain management in Africa, working with local

suppliers and international partners to ensure the timely availability of raw materials
and packaging.

  • Adapt inventory management strategies to cater to regional logistics challenges,

ensuring efficient storage and distribution networks.

  • Collaborate with local distributors and logistics teams to ensure optimal product

delivery times and reduce operational costs.

  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop financial models that cater to local market conditions, exchange rate volatility,

and regional economic factors.

  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting for plant operations, ensuring financial stability

while navigating the complexities of doing business in Africa.

  • Conduct regular financial performance reviews, providing actionable insights to senior

management.

  1. Regulatory & Compliance:
  • Stay informed on local and international regulatory requirements specific to the

African edible oil industry, including trade regulations, tariffs, and health standards.

  • Ensure all plant operations comply with local environmental laws, labor regulations,

and industry-specific certifications.

  • Navigate the regulatory landscape in various African countries, ensuring timely

compliance with all necessary approvals and certifications.

  1. Customer Relations & Business Development:
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and

regulatory bodies across the African & others continent.

  • Assist the business development and sales teams in identifying new market

opportunities within & outside Africa, including expanding into emerging markets.

  • Adapt marketing strategies to the cultural and economic needs of African & outside

consumers.
Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Food

Technology, Business Administration, or related fields.
Experience:

  • Minimum of 15-18 years of experience in plant management, with at least 10 years in

a leadership role within the edible oil or food manufacturing industry.

  • Experience in Africa is strongly preferred, with proven success in managing

manufacturing operations in the region.

  • Knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities related to supply chains, labor,

and regulatory environments in Africa.

  • Proven experience in handling cross-cultural teams and navigating the complexities of

doing business in diverse African markets.
