Key responsibilities
Position Overview:
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the overall accounting functions of the
company. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports,
ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, managing cash flow, and providing
financial insights to support business decision-making. The role covers the full spectrum of
accounting activities, from transaction recording to financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Reconcile accounts, including bank statements, receivables, payables, and
intercompany accounts.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process supplier invoices, payments, payroll and staff reimbursements.
Manage billing, invoicing, and collection of receivables.
Monitor outstanding debts and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Payroll & Employee Benefits
Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time.
Calculate statutory deductions and ensure compliance
Maintain employee payroll records.
- Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
Provide variance analysis between actuals and budgets.
- Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with taxation, corporate, and statutory requirements.
Prepare and lodge tax returns and other statutory filings.
Liaise with external parties and provide necessary documentation.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Review and recommend improvements to existing accounting systems and processes.
Support management with financial analysis and business insights.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage.
At least 2 years’ experience in general accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and compliance.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or ERP
systems) and MS Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
