Key responsibilities
The Fleet Manager has to find the most safe and efficient vessel for a shipment, through
daily monitoring and market analysis, making good cooperation with the Ship owners and
other parties involved.
Accountabilities
- To search for new shipowners/vessels and to analysis the market
- To maintain and increase a database of shipping companies
- Collecting the information about the vessels (time-charter description, drawings,
certificates)
- Creating the weekly emailing, making and sending regular separate circulars
- To search for a vessel that meets the requirements of the Chartering Manager
- To conduct the Commercial negotiations related to the charterer / ship`s rental
- Preliminary discussion of the voyage financial result with the Chartering Manager,
and in case of a negative result, discussion of the feasibility of vessel` rental with
the CEO/Head of Chartering Department before agreement is made
- Forwarding for checking to shipowner or vessel`s Captain a preliminary plan
provided by the cargo Broker; approving and confirming before agreement is
made
- Adding into Lotus/Data base the description, drawings and certificates of a
chartered vessel
- Adding the agreement and conditions (RECAP) into the database of vessels`
contracts in LOTUS
- Preparing and finalizing Charter Parties between The Company and Shipowner.
Collect
- full time charter description, drawings and certificates for the vessel
- information about the vessel`s work in the previous charter
- information from bunkering brokers - partners of the Company - about the
shipowner's ability to pay
Make sure
- description of the vessel complies with the requirements of the Chartering
Manager
- description does not contain the clause “without guarantee” or “wog”
- vessel’s certificates are valid during the whole period of the vessel’s charter /
lease
- the possibility to carry dangerous goods on board (under and on the deck)
- technical possibility to call all ports required by the Freight Manager
- Try to negotiate an option to extend the chartering of the vessel
- Try to negotiate an option for a wider region of return of the vessel from the
charter
- If possible, use the Company's charter to conclude a Time-charter deal
- Specify the cost for the bunkering on board and the possibility to avoid its
payment, in case this cost is not preferable for the Company
- Specify the amount of dead-ballast on board and the net carrying capacity of the
vessel
- Make sure that ship cranes are available and in working condition
- Make sure if vessel`s crew could be available for cargo and lashing operations
- Make sure that the lashing materials are available on board are free of charge
Authority
The Fleet Manager has the authority and obligation to request training in the understanding
of Varamar quality procedures and processes as required in order to carry out the duties in
full compliance with the procedures.
