Job Description
The Main responsibilities of the Senior Field Operations Officer include:
a) Maintain and revise extension protocols and plans
b) Supervise and advise Field Operation Officers and Farm Manager
c) Provide technical support to Field Operation Officers
d) Coordinate and report on extension activities and outcomes
e) Advise Management on potential supply chain policy changes
f) Scouting for potential producers and other supply chain partners
g) Develop budget and projections for Field Operation Officers and Farm Supervisor
h) Coordinate and supervise support systems meted out by Field Operation Officers and Farm
Manager
i) Develop new commodity supply chain models
j) Procure and supervise the distribution of Fonio seeds to out-growers and nucleus farm
k) Coordinate with Factory Manager to schedule new Fonio deliveries
l) Ensure compliance with organic certification
m) Coordinate certification visits and audits
n) Study and implement the feasibility of new agronomic practices and technologies where suitable

a) Entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen and belief in business approach to development
b) Relevant academic study, 5-7 years’ experience in agricultural commodities supply chain
(experience in extension services is an added advantage)
c) Experience or interest in working in a highly cross-cultural environment
d) Minimum of 3 years in Supervisory role
e) Ability to solve problems
f) Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
g) Strong Initiation and Intuition – being able to work out next steps, provide solutions and not be
afraid to try new ideas
h) Willingness to work in a start-up environment – ability to adopt and change with the
organization
i) Has a sense of responsibility
j) Flexibility and ability to work without constant supervision
k) Ability to work in rural areas
l) Private sector experience preferred
