Key responsibilities
We are seeking a practical and strategic Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead all aspects of plant and infrastructure maintenance, engineering operations, and mechanical reliability for a gold mining operation with a Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) plant. The role involves oversight of fixed and mobile plant maintenance, infrastructure services, safety compliance, and strategic asset management to ensure optimal plant performance, minimal downtime, and sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Management:
- Lead engineering functions for the gold processing plant, including crushers, mills, screens, pumps, tanks, and piping.
- Oversee construction and commissioning activities for new CIL circuits or plant upgrades.
- Review and interpret P&IDs, process designs, and implement practical field-based solutions.
Maintenance Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Supervise mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure plant availability and reliability.
- Monitor and manage plant KPIs including MTTR, MTBF, and equipment availability.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Asset & Infrastructure Management:
- Manage infrastructure systems such as power supply, water, compressed air, and workshops.
- Oversee asset lifecycle planning, equipment refurbishment, and capex/opex budgeting.
- Maintain accurate records using CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Pragma, or equivalent).
Team Leadership & Safety Compliance:
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams of fitters, welders, electricians, and maintenance planners.
- Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and statutory compliance.
- Champion engineering safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Coordinate with process and metallurgical teams to optimize plant performance and recovery.
- Collaborate with contractors and OEMs for major overhauls and installations.
- Prepare maintenance reports, budget forecasts, and strategic engineering reviews.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 20+ years’ experience in gold plant maintenance and operations (CIL/CIP preferred).
- Strong experience in commissioning, plant troubleshooting, and remote field environments.
- Proficiency in CMMS, maintenance scheduling, and reliability engineering tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with mining regulatory requirements and engineering compliance.
