Development of drilling safety practices/initiatives, drill rig inspection programs and compliance.
Oversee and ensure consistent operations and practices by providing training, drill rig safety inspections, and monitoring / balancing workloads between employees, rigs, and projects.
Supervise team performance by conducting regular on-site inspections, investigating safety incidents and near misses, performing quality audits, and analysing metrics.
Provide leadership and direction on drilling practices and rig utilization/fleet management.
Monitor safety, quality, and production and provide recommendations for improvement.
Participate and provide input in the recruitment, interview and selection process for drillers.
Gain insight and stay vigilant about project-associated risks. Familiarize yourself with potential project pitfalls and implement measures to safeguard the company and its stakeholders.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of the exploration drilling process, both diamond and RC.
Communicate safety initiatives, rules, and guidelines to teams. Hold employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.

At least 10 years of relevant, demonstratable experience in carrying out the Essential Roles and Responsibilities listed above, including at least 5 years as an Exploration Drill Operator.
Ability to work autonomously in remote areas.
Proficiency in generating exploration activity reports that are suitable for their intended purpose.
Driver’s license valid for the operational areas.
This is a hands-on role which will require residency at the exploration camps most of the time.
French and English proficient.
Computer literacy typically commensurate with a role of this nature, i.e.: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
