Key responsibilities
Overview –
Good credit management is essential to an organization’s healthy cash flow, and the Credit Controller is
responsible for managing a book of debtor accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
A Credit Controller job requirement includes conducting credit checks on new customers, resolving
problems in relation to invoice payments, and reconciling complex month-end accounts. The candidate
must also report to management on outstanding issues, whilst highlighting potential debtor problems.
A Credit Controller job description includes overseeing the collection of customer accounts in a manner
that ensures high customer satisfaction and loyalty. As such, a Credit Controller must be able
to communicate in an efficient yet friendly manner with customers, as well as the broader accounts
receivable team while reporting to the Financial Controller.
Duties and responsibilities –
Creating procedures that ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of customer
retention
Reconciling complex accounts that have been escalated from the AR team
Monitoring debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors DSO
Ensuring credit and collection policies and procedures are followed within your team
Liaising with customers, as well as internal personnel including the sales team
Desired candidate profile
Job qualifications and requirements –
Experience in Travel Industry is must
Minimum requirement - Bachelor’s degree in Finance or business related field of study (preferable
70% + marks)
Preferred requirement – CA inter / PE 2 qualified or MBA candidates would be given a preference
Ten years overall work experience in a Finance function with at least five years in an accounts
receivable / credit control environment is preferred.
Candidates for a Credit Controller role will also need to demonstrate the following qualities:
o Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
o Good business acumen for problem solving
o Competency with large ERP systems
o Familiarity with the travel industry
o Confidence to deal with a range of stakeholders
o Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize a demanding workload
o Willingness to travel within Oman (30% of the time)
As this role requires frequent customer visits, the candidate must hold a valid Omani driving license
or an equivalent license that can be converted to an Omani License.
