Key responsibilities
Job Summary
The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and overseeing civil engineering
projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved
plans, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. The role provides technical expertise,
supervises construction activities, coordinates with project stakeholders, and ensures the quality,
integrity, and successful delivery of civil works.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Engineering
Plan, design, and coordinate civil engineering projects from commencement through
completion.
Prepare, review, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical
reports.
Develop project schedules, cost estimates, and work plans.
Monitor project progress and recommend corrective actions when required.
Construction Supervision
Supervise and inspect civil construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings,
specifications, and quality standards.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within
project timelines.
Identify and resolve technical and construction-related issues during project execution.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all civil works comply with applicable engineering standards, building codes,
environmental regulations, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and participate in testing and project handover
activities.
Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with company policies and
procedures.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with project managers, architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and relevant
authorities to facilitate project execution.
Prepare project progress reports, technical documentation, and engineering records.
Communicate project updates, risks, and recommendations to Management.
Procurement & Cost Control
Assist in preparing material requirements, quantity estimates, and technical evaluations.
Monitor project costs and resource utilization to support budget control and efficient project
delivery.
Review contractor claims and variation requests as required.
Other Duties
Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and site personnel.
Participate in project planning, commissioning, and close-out activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional registration or licensure is an advantage.
Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure
projects.
Experience in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure developments is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and engineering
standards.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Excellent project planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and project management software.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured based on:
Timely completion of assigned projects and engineering deliverables.
Compliance with project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
Adherence to health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Quality and accuracy of engineering designs, reports, and documentation.
Effective coordination with project stakeholders and contractors.
Successful resolution of technical issues and project challenges.
